We are pleased to share an exciting upcoming event hosted by iCRAG: “Discover the Climate Potential of Ireland’s Peatlands”, taking place on May 12th at the Lullymore Heritage Site, Co. Kildare, Ireland.
This workshop and field visit will explore the critical role peatlands can play in removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and accelerating climate action. As one of the world’s most effective natural carbon stores, peatlands represent a powerful yet underutilized solution in the transition to a net-zero future.
What to expect
During the session, participants will:
- Gain insights into peatland restoration and its importance in addressing climate challenges
- Discover innovative research and emerging technologies that enhance carbon sequestration at scale
- Explore opportunities for cross-sector collaboration to support sustainable peatland management
The event brings together researchers, policymakers, landowners, and industry stakeholders, offering a valuable platform to exchange knowledge and build partnerships that can unlock the full climate and economic potential of peatland landscapes.
