Why We Must Remove CO₂ — Starting Now

Over the past 200 years, our fossil-fuel economy has released about 555 billion tons of CO₂ into the air. Land and oceans have absorbed more than half of it — they are our biggest natural carbon sinks. But the rest stays in the atmosphere, creating a kind of carbon traffic jam that is pushing the climate into dangerous conditions.
To protect our future, we urgently need to remove this excess CO₂ from the atmosphere.
