Countries beyond the U.S. are stepping up with strong CDR policies of their own. Canada now offers an investment tax credit for DAC and has launched a $10M program to purchase all types of carbon removal. Japan has added DAC as a compliance option in its national ETS. And in Europe, the EU is backing DAC through major R&I programs while considering far-reaching measures to scale CDR — including integrating permanent removals into the EU ETS and creating an EU-wide carbon removal purchasing program.
